Rio de Janeiro, at the beginning of the 1970s. Brazil is in the firm grip of a military dictatorship. The Paiva family is introduced: Father Rubens, mother Eunice and their five children. They live in a rented house on the beach, whose doors are always open to friends. The affection and humour they share with each other is their own subtle form of resistance to the oppression that prevails in the country. One day, they are the victims of a violent, arbitrary attack that changes their lives forever. As a result, Eunice is forced to reinvent herself and create a new future for herself and her children. Based on Marcelo Rubens Paiva's memoirs, this moving story has made an important contribution to the reappraisal of a significant part of Brazil's silenced history.
